Airports Closest to Disneyland and Our Tips When Flying to Them

Planning a Disneyland vacation can be stressful!

Fortunately, we love sharing our travel tips. Disneyland is in Anaheim, California, just outside Los Angeles. And being close to a large metropolis provides several airport options within 15-45 miles.

So, let’s dig into the details!

First, regardless of airport, try to schedule your flight to arrive earlier or later than rush-hour. Sitting in LA area traffic with a meter of any kind running is a huge waste of your time and money.

An important note: Pricing and the number of airlines that fly to each of these airports below will range. So you will want to price these out and make sure you have a direct flight from where you’re traveling from to these airports (If that’s what you’re looking for).

Airports Near Disneyland

JOHN WAYNE AIRPORT, ORANGE COUNTY (SNA)

Distance: At about 15 miles, John Wayne Airport in Orange County is the closest airport to Disneyland (CA-55 North, I-5 North).

How long it should take: Drive time varies from about 18–35 minutes without traffic to up to an hour during afternoon commute time between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m.

SNA provides car rental services, rideshare, taxi, and private car services are all available here to help get you to your Disneyland hotel from the airport. For a less stressful arrival, grab an Uber or Lyft from John Wayne to your Disneyland hotel.

Try to fly in here, if possible. SNA is a REALLY nice airport! We were very impressed. Even the TSA people were very nice.

Disneyland Hotel

LAX provides car rental services, rideshare, taxi, and private car services are all available here to help get you to your Disneyland hotel from the airport.

Extra Tips: Definitely research transportation methods from LAX before you go! When you arrive at the airport, getting to the Lyft and Uber pickup area is complicated because of construction.

You can consider paying extra to take a Black Car from LAX and then you don’t have to go to the confusing pick-up area. They pick you up at Baggage Claim; this goes for the ones you order through Uber and Lyft as well.

Also, paying extra for the professional option is a great idea if you have a lot of luggage or heavy luggage. To get to the regular Uber and Lyft pick-up area, your family will have to take a shuttle or walk a long distance. In addition, lugging your suitcases onto that tiny shuttle bus is a painful way to start your Disney vacation.

Storytellers Cafe Breakfast

LA traffic is SO unpredictable so allow your family several buffer hours before any pre-scheduled plans.  Refrain from making any breakfast or lunch reservations that day just in case.

  1. I used Long Beach Airport, which is lovely and small. The taxi company was awesome. I picked up my checked bag, walked over to the taxi stand and was immediately whisked away to Disneyland – for a flat rate. And the wonderful driver made arrangements with me for my pick up to return to the airport, as I had to leave at 6 am. I would definitely use them again. For a solo traveler, I felt very safe and the whole process was so easy.
