Southwest Airlines just released its Q1 earnings for 2024, and the company landed with a $231 million net loss. They still had a record Q1 operating revenue of $6.3 billion, but in order to make up for the losses, they’re planning to cut some routes.

Southwest has announced that it will permanently close operations at four airports. They are as follows:

  • Bellingham International Airport
  • Cozumel International Airport
  • Houston’s George Bush Intercontinental Airport
  • Syracuse Hancock International Airport
Orlando International Airport

These particular airports are being chosen because they are “underperforming markets.” Southwest noted in a statement that they made this difficult decision in to “improve our financial performance.”
