Many of us love all things Mickey Mouse!
Mickey Mouse was “born” on November 18th, 1928 with the first showing of a Mickey Mouse animated short — “Steamboat Willie”. And the rest, as they say, is history.
But you’re not here for history — you’re here to find out how tall Mickey Mouse is! Right, let’s get on with it.
So when we talk about the height of Disney characters, we have to take two things into consideration — their height in animation, and the height of the characters you meet in Disney Parks.
So, what is Mickey Mouse’s height in animated films? Animated characters live in animated worlds, so while you can tell their height relative to other characters in that world, you may not be able to put our system of measurement to it.
For example, we know that Mickey and Minnie are about the same height, and they are close in height to Donald and Daisy. Plus, we know that Mickey (and the rest of that gang) are definitely shorter than Goofy.
But we are in luck in determining how tall Mickey is in animation. He appeared, along with most other animated characters we can think of, in the 1988 film Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
In the hybrid live-action/animated film, there is one scene in particular where we can get a good estimate of Mickey Mouse’s height. After Judge Doom meets his end, his clothes are left steaming on the ground. Mickey and his pals gather round, and relative to Judge Doom’s clothing, we see that Mickey looks to be the height of a small child.
This puts the animated Mickey Mouse’s height at about 2 feet or a little over that — let’s say between 2 feet and 2 feet, 4 inches.
But what about the Mickey Mouse you can meet in Disney Parks? For practical reasons, that Mickey is quite a bit taller than the animated version.
It has been widely reported that the height requirement for entertainers hired to play Mickey Mouse is that they must be around 5 feet tall, give or take an inch or two. That means Mickey stands about 5’2″ in the parks (minus his ears, of course).
There you have it, a look at Mickey Mouse’s height!

While the Roger Rabbit movie is certainly one way to determine Mickey’s relative height, let’s not forget a much earlier Disney film that provides a similar opportunity: Fantasia. When Mickey and Leopold Stokowski are shown in silhouette shaking hands, we can get a sense of Mickey’s height relative to his. We can also estimate to some extent relative to the sorcerer’s height as well.
