Mike Scopa
Feature Writer and Blogger
Mike Scopa, as long as he can
remember, has always been a huge Disney fan. Growing up in the 50s
and 60s Mike found himself drawn to Davey Crockett, Zorro, The Hardy
Boys, Spin and Marty, and of course The Mickey Mouse Club.
Mikes initial visit to Walt Disney World was in September, 1975. That 3-day weekend trip turned into an 8-day trip in 1976. Mike has visited Orlando many times since that first trip. How many times? Mike says its somewhere between 1 and 100 times with no end in sight.
For years Mike wrote detailed trip reports which helped him relive his experience and serve others as guidelines for their upcoming trips to Orlando. Mike has delivered several seminars on Walt Disney World Trip Planning and continues to do so today. Mike was Keynote Speaker at MagicMeets 2006 and 2007 and co-presented Mousefest101 at Mousefest 2007 and 2008.
Before joining AllEars in 2008, Mike served as a Staff Columnist for Mouseplanet where he wrote over 160 of his "Scoping the Parks" columns. Mike is a contributing author to The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World and The Luxury Guide to Walt Disney World, peer reviewer for Passporters Open Mouse for Walt Disney World and the Disney Cruise Line, and technical editor for Plan Your Walt Disney World Vacation in No Time
In 2005 Mike was designated as one of the 50 Happiest Passholders on Earth by Walt Disney World and in 2006 was selected as the Walt Disney World Passholder representative to attend the announcement of the Year of a Million Dreams in New York City.
Mike is also co-host of the WDWTODAY Podcast.
Mike's favorite attraction is the American Adventure and his favorite Walt Disney World treat is Dole Whip which is also known as "Dr. Scopa's Magical Elixir." His favorite resorts are Pop Century, Port Orleans French Quarter, and the Polynesian Resort.
Mike is an avid runner and has run no less than a dozen Walt Disney World races including several Walt Disney World half-marathons, one Mini-Marathon, two Races for the Cure, two Races for the Taste and the Tower of Terror 13K. Mike, along with fellow Michelle Scribner-MacLean, serves as Co-Captain for the AllEars Running Team.
Mike lives in Southern New Hampshire but is only a short three hour flight from the Happiest Place on Earth.
Mike's AllEars® blog is known as "The View from Scopa Towers" and offers advice and perspective on all aspects of Walt Disney World.
