NEWS: Pteranodon Flyers Unexpectedly CLOSES With No Reopening Date in Sight at Universal Orlando

An opening day attraction at Islands of Adventure just CLOSED INDEFINITELY.

Pteranodon Flyers

Pteranodon Flyers opened with the rest of Jurassic Park at Islands of Adventure back in 1999. The ride – one of the few children’s rides in the park – has been a staple for youngsters visiting Universal for 25 years now. However, in recent days it’s closed unexpectedly, with no reopening in sight.

The Pteranodon Flyers is listed as closed in the Universal app, despite having no scheduled maintenance or refurbishment previously scheduled. Now, the ride was added to Universal’s ride closure list, notably with no reopening timeframe listed.

The glider attraction, located in the Camp Jurassic section of the Jurassic Park island, allows riders to “slowly soar and gently swing through the air in a comfy seat suspended from a track above” and according to Universal features “no sudden or scary movements” making it “perfect for younger guests not ready for big-kid thrills.” The ride features a height range of 36” to 56”, with anyone taller than the maximum height only able to ride if they’re accompanying someone within the designated height range.

Given its status as one of Islands of Adventure’s only rides specifically designed for kids, any long-term closure of Pteranodon Flyers would likely have a significant impact on families planning to travel to Universal. Stay tuned to AllEars for more updates on its closure.
