Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is now collaborating with Planet Hollywood at Disney Springs. Fieri, best known for his Food Network show "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," will design an exclusive burger and sandwich menu for the restaurant, which has been undergoing a major transformation over the past few months. The restaurant is set to reopen this fall as the Planet Hollywood Observatory, with an exterior reminiscent of a turn-of-the-century observatory, and an interior with refurbished upholstery, spherical planet-shaped lighting fixtures and stylish finishing, a newly expanded outdoor terrace and bar overlooking all of Disney Springs.

Top celebrity chefs, brand new Disney resort cooking and dining experiences and irresistible Eat to the Beat dining packages will add fresh twists to the 21st Epcot International Food and Wine Festival presented by Chase at Walt Disney World Resort.

The annual Disney celebration of global flavors, running 62 days from Sept. 14-Nov. 14, has become one of America's top food festivals and features inspired sips and bites at more than 30 marketplaces. And for the second consecutive year, ABC's Emmy Award-winning lifestyle series, "The Chew," will produce a full week of programs from the festival. "Chew" hosts Mario Batali, Carla Hall, Michael Symon, Clinton Kelly and Daphne Oz will share their Disney culinary adventures and tasty recipes before Epcot audiences Oct. 5-7 in shows scheduled to air Oct. 10-14.

Blaze Fast-Fire'd Pizza opened August 5 at Disney Springs Town Center. The new fast-casual eatery features made-from-scratch dough and artisanal toppings, as well as two ovens that turn out 11-inch pies in 180 seconds. The menu highlights custom-built pizzas all for one price, with an interactive assembly line that lets you customize a pizza (or pick one of their signature pizzas). All pizza and salad ingredients are free from artificial colors, flavors or preservatives, and gluten-free dough and vegan cheese are both available. The 5,000-square-foot spot has seating for 200 and accepts the Disney Dining Plan. Blaze Pizza was designed as part of the Disney Springs architecture to resemble an 1850s-era sawmill that's been contemporized, and uses single-species wood in the open kitchen and ordering area, including lumber milled from a cypress log felled more than 200 years ago and reclaimed from Florida's Apalachicola River. A large covered patio with seating cantilevers over the waterfront.

Beginning August 29 during a special preview week, and continuing through October 2, select Orlando restaurants will offer prix fixe dinners for just $33. More than 70 Orlando restaurants are participating in 2016. Among the restaurants that are participating in the Disney World area:

-- All Star Sports Grand Slam Pool will be closed for refurbishment October 10 - December 2, 2016.
-- Pop Century Resort will be undergoing a hard goods refurbishment starting October 16. It will be complete sometime in 2017.
-- Pop Century's Computer Pool will be closed for refurbishment October 31 - December 23, 2016.
-- Yacht Club resort rooms will be undergoing refurbishment beginning October 31. They will be complete sometime in 2017.
-- Cookes of Dublin at Disney Springs is closed through August 8 for refurbishment.

Tokyo Dining at Epcot's Japan Pavilion has introduced an all-new menu, sharing traditional Japanese concepts with elements that are familiar to those from all corners of the world. New ingredients include Kurobuta pork, succulent real crab, exceptional seasonal vegetables, lobster, an incredibly unique Japanese Cheese, lamb, and several new varieties of sushi.

After a major re-imagining, reservations open July 29 for dates beginning August 3 and beyond at Flying Fish on Disney's BoardWalk. The entire interior of the popular restaurant, including the on-stage kitchen, has been redesigned. To go along with the redesign, Chef Tim Majoras, a veteran of the Flying Fish kitchen, has created a new menu. The seafood-centric menu features entirely sustainable fish and shellfish, and includes Chef Majoras' creations such as corn-crusted wild Gulf shrimp, wild Alaskan king salmon and plancha-seared Hokkaido scallops. For carnivores, there's Wagyu filet mignon, Kurobuta pork belly and bison striploin. AbracadaBar, the new cocktail lounge adjacent to the Flying Fish on Disney's BoardWalk, is in soft opening. The back story of this lounge describes it as "former stomping ground for the famous magicians, boardwalk illusionists, and lovely magician's assistants of the Golden Age... [on one evening] every single magician in the lounge vanished into thin air, and was never seen again..." Inside, guests will find enchanted magic show posters and mystifying mirrors, vintage props and tricks.

Tutto Gusto in Epcot's Italy pavilion is offering a new line of frozen drinks, just in time for cooling off from the summertime heat: Italian Daiquiri (Rum, lime juice, simple syrup, strawberry puree, Midori), Campari Pina Colada (Malibu rum, pineapple juice, Campari) and the Italian Margarita (Tequila, simple syrup, limoncello, lime juice). Each of these new concoctions is $14.

The Polite Pig, sister restaurant to The Ravenous Pig of Winter Park, Florida, will open in the Town Center neighborhood of Disney Springs in the spring of 2017.

The Polite Pig will feature a variety of wood-fired smoked and grilled items, as well as an innovative beverage program that serves all drinks on tap. The 5,000-square-foot venue will be open daily for lunch and dinner, with seating for about 200 guests.
