We’ve all been there. We’ve all had a first trip to Disney World.

We’ve probably even got the button celebrating that first trip. So we don’t make fun of first-timers…too much. But there are some things that we see on rides that will definitely tip us off on who the Disney newbies are.

First-timers probably aren’t even aware which rides have cameras and take photos of them while riding. The pros? They know EXACTLY where to look and when to get that perfect ride photo.

Meanwhile, the first-timers are often looking away from the camera during that split second the camera takes a photo. Oops. Just in case you were wondering, though, here’s a list of the rides that take photos of you:

This is more of a first-timer thing we’ve seen, more so than a ride photo thing, but something that first-timers often do is stand in lines for rides that aren’t exactly the biggest, best, newest rides.

Unless it’s your favorite, we suggest not waiting in a long line for rides like The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Astro Orbiter, Journey Into Imagination with Figment, etc.

On many rides, you’re told to remove your hats and glasses, but even on the rides that don’t require it, those of us who know we’re getting our photo taken will take those off. Gotta’ make sure we can recognize ourselves in those photos, right?

So if your ride photo has you in a hat (that hasn’t yet flown off your head) and glasses, this might be your first trip to Disney World.

NO Ride Photos

Okay, so this one says it all — if you don’t have ANY ride photos because you decided to spend more time waiting in line for characters instead, then this is probably your first trip to Disney World. Here’s the thing: Characters like Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto meet in multiple parks, so you can just choose the shortest wait for each of those characters.

Now, don’t get us wrong…you can go to Disney World and not ride a single ride and have a great time. But you have to at LEAST try some of the classics that offer ride photos like Pirates of the Caribbean and Haunted Mansion. Those rides are pretty much perfect for everyone, too!

Okay, so there isn’t an on-ride photo on Kali River Rapids, but if we see a photo of you on that ride and you’re not wearing a poncho, we know you probably have NO IDEA what you’re in for.

We’ll clue you in: You’re in for a VERY wet trip. This is the one ride in Disney World where you are guaranteed to get soaked. The pros bring a poncho JUST for this ride.
