A lot of exciting things are happening for Universal Destinations and Experiences across the U.S. right now.
From a new family-focused theme park in the works in Frisco, Texas to Epic Universe, the massive new park coming to Universal Orlando, and more — the company has been giving fans a lot to look forward to. Outside of the U.S., the opening timeline for an upcoming experience in Universal Studios Japan was just announced, and it’s giving us some serious FOMO.
Universal Studios Japan opened the first Super Nintendo World in March 2021. Since then, another has opened stateside in Univeral Studios Hollywood, and a third is in the works for Epic Universe.
Now, the original location is leveling up with a new addition. According to Universal Studios Japan, the new Donkey Kong Country area will open in the Spring of 2024!

The land is based on the popular Nintendo franchise, Donkey Kong, and will expand the current area by 70%. As part of the expansion, visitors can ride the new thrilling family coaster, Mine-Cart Madness, which will “seemingly jump across gaps in the track and perform other stunts from the Donkey Kong Country games.”
In addition to the new ride, new food and merchandise will be available for visitors to check out. Those with Power-Up Bands will also find new interactive experiences in Donkey Kong Country as well.
