3 Lies Everyone Believes About Disney World’s Most Expensive Hotels

We recently told you about four lies people believe about Disney World’s cheapest hotels.

Caribbean Beach Resort

Oftentimes, people don’t realize they get many of the same benefits at a Value Resort that they get at a Deluxe Resort (other than Extended Evening Hours). Also, many people don’t know that the ‘cheap’ hotels are still very nice Disney hotels. Well now we’re flipping to the other side of the coin and going to break some myths people believe about Disney World’s Deluxe Resorts.

Disney World has eight Deluxe Resorts:

Each of these is vastly different from the others, but all so wonderful in their own way. But regardless of how great we know they are, there are a few lies people believe about them. So let’s go through and break down the lies so we can find the truth.

There’s No Additional Benefits for the Extra Price

Yes, these hotel rooms can indeed run you nearly $500 or more (plus tax) per night. But while many people think there are no extra benefits for paying so much more, that’s not necessarily true. You do get the normal benefits that you get at all Disney World hotels AND a couple of others.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort

At all Deluxe Resorts, you have access to Disney’s Extended Evening Hours in the parks on select nights for no additional cost. This is only available for certain hotels and the Deluxe Resorts fall into that category.

Animal Kingdom Lodge

Also at many of the Deluxe Resorts, you have the added benefit of having special transportation, such as the Monorail or a boat stop, right at your hotel or within walking distance to a park.

Yacht Club and Beach Club to EPCOT Walkway

These perks can be so worth the extra cost of staying at these resorts.

They Never Do Any Deals or Discounts

You might believe that Disney never does any deals or discounts for these Deluxe rooms, but that is not the case. Deals are going on all the time for Disney hotels and they include the Deluxe Resorts.

Also, if you’re a member of the military, Disney offers rooms at a discount and they may apply at the Deluxe Resorts (this just depends on availability and time of year, but we have seen the Grand Floridian give a military discount).

Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa

Also, another option is to rent Disney Vacation Club Points. All of the Deluxe Resorts in Disney World offer DVC rooms and you can actually rent the DVC points from current members without having to be a member yourself! This can be a much less expensive way to stay at a Deluxe Resort. A common site used is David’s Vacation Club Rentals.

They’re Just Not Worth It

We get it, $500 a night can be a lot to shell out. But these resorts are drop-dead gorgeous. They offer beautiful rooms with buildings ‘generally’ closer together than the Value and Moderate Resorts (we’re looking at you Caribbean Beach Resort).

Polynesian Lobby

And to add a cherry on top, if you stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge you could have a room overlooking the Savanna with giraffes and other animals right outside your balcony. You can’t get those kinds of views at the cheaper resorts.

Savanna View

So if you’ve been considering staying at one of the Deluxe Resorts but don’t know if it’s actually worth it, hopefully this helps you decide. They offer great views, extra perks, and easier transportation to the parks. We hope you enjoy your stay!
