You can catch some epic rides over at Universal Orlando.
With two separate parks, Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure, you can ride the Jurassic World VelociCoaster or break out of Gringotts Bank. There are many adventures to be had at the theme parks if you’re an adult. But there’s one ride that has a surprising rule when it comes to guests over 56″ tall.
When you think of Universal Orlando, you may think of thrill rides. Generally, to ride fast-paced rollercoasters and other big rides, you must meet specific height requirements.
But there’s one ride in Islands of Adventure that’s in the Jurassic Park area that has some different height requirements than we’re used to. The Pteranodon Flyers is, according to Universal, a “glider style roller coaster” that includes “climbing, side-to-side swinging and sudden acceleration.”
The description sounds pretty cool, but sorry, you can’t ride it if you’re over 56″ UNLESS you have someone who meets the 36″ height requirement. This ride requires adults to have a child present in order to ride it! Talk about the switcheroo from normal rides.
Universal states in its rider guide, “This ride employs safety restraints which may not accommodate certain people due to their body shape or size.” So, adults may simply be too big. However, children 36″ to 48″ must be supervised by a companion (so maybe the rule isn’t quite so strange).
This ride looks like a lot of fun, so we might actually have to bring our kids with us next time we go so we can ride it!
