This countdown celebrates the 40th anniversary of the opening of the Orlando vacation destination on October 1, 2011.

A panel of leading Disney experts, convened by Ayefour Publishing’s founder Chad Emerson, developed the Countdown, an unofficial list of the top 40 significant events in the history of the Walt Disney World resort. The Countdown highlights theme park milestones such as beloved attraction and show openings, as well as the debut of important events that have become annual Disney World traditions. Its release coincides with the publication of Ayefour Publishing's "Four Decades of Magic: Celebrating the First Forty Years of Disney World", a compilation of essays by leading Disney World authors, including AllEars.Net's Senior Editor, Debra Martin Koma.
