10 Disney World Hotel Rules You NEVER Realized Existed

Are you pumped for your upcoming Disney World Hotel stay?

Coronado Springs

We don’t blame you. Staying at a Disney World Hotel comes with so much magic. The immersion is top-notch, and you can’t get better theming anywhere. Now, before you go, we thought we’d go over a couple of the hotel rules you never knew existed to make sure your trip has smooth sailing.

Ready for the trip to Disney World with your crew? Great! But before you go, we’d like to remind you that one of the best decisions you can make when traveling to Disney World is to use a travel agent! You know how awkward it can be to navigate everyone’s wants and needs in a group — let alone navigate conflicts over the trip budget. Sometimes having a third party (your travel agent) to handle everyone’s requests and advise you on the best hotels, best restaurants, and best itineraries is the way to go! We recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel if you need someone!

Now on to those hotel rules you need to know before your trip!

No Balloons Allowed

Imagine getting ready to stroll through Disney’s Animal Kingdom or one of Disney World’s water parks, only to find out that your vibrant balloon isn’t welcome.

Balloons in Magic Kingdom

That’s right, balloons are a big no-no at these locations, along with Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge (Kidani Village and Jambo House) and ESPN Wide World of Sports.

Balcony Etiquette

There’s nothing quite like enjoying a picturesque view from your Disney hotel balcony, but before you start decorating it with towels and swimsuits, hold your horses!

You can’t hang clothes on your balcony at Disney World hotels

Hanging anything over or on balconies, whether it’s clothing, towels, bedding, or even your brand-new Mickey souvenir, is strictly prohibited. If you need to have your clothes dried, you can utilize the hotel’s laundry services.

Say No to Glass

The next no-no you might not have known about is that glass containers are not allowed anywhere on Disney World property except for at Disney Resort hotels.

A great souvenir idea.

The only exception is for those tiny ones like baby food jars. As you can imagine, this is for everyone’s safety, so that you can relax without worrying about any accidents.

Bicycle Boundaries

Were you planning on exploring all of Disney World on two wheels? Well, while bikes are welcome, they’re only allowed in designated areas.

So you’ll have to see if your hotel has designated areas for you should you desire to have a scenic ride while on your Disney World vacation.

Quiet Hours

If you’re thinking that you can have late-night snack runs or impromptu sing-alongs to Hakuna Matata, you’ve got another thing coming.

The Disney Resort hotels have quiet hours from 11:00PM to 7:00AM, so be mindful of your noise levels during this time.

Pet-Protocol

Will you be bringing your furry friend along with you for the adventure? You can do that at specific pet-friendly Disney hotels. You’ll just have to be mindful of the protocol.

You’ll need to keep your four-legged friend on a leash or in a harness outside your room at all times. This is best for keeping everyone safe — your pet and fellow guests.

Service Animal Guidelines

Since we’re talking about your fur baby, you should know that service animals are more than welcome at Disney hotels (they have their own set of guidelines to follow).

From avoiding water features and fountains to maintaining a safe distance from wet decks, there are a number of rules that you’ll need to follow in order to keep you and your pup safe.

Keep Paths Clear

Now this one should not be a rule that you’re unaware of, however…HOWEVER, many people seem to constantly stop and completely block the paths.

Walkways at Polynesian

The main point is to keep walkways and common areas clear. Blocking sidewalks, entrances, hallways, or other public spaces isn’t allowed.

Pool Noodle No-No

If you’re like us, you can’t wait to hit the pool up. You’ll just need to make sure you’re bringing the right things with you.

Lost City of Cibola Pool

Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit and sunscreen, but leave those pool noodles at home. Only Coast Guard-approved floats are allowed.

Wagon Woes

While wagons might seem like a convenient way to transport your gear and even your little ones, they’re a big no-no anywhere at Disney World.

Strollers are ok but not wagons.

They’re not allowed in the theme parks, water parks, or even indoor areas at ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.
