FULL GUIDE to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando in 2023!

The time has finally arrived, Halloween fans!

We’re here!

If you’re a big fan of the spooky, scary part of Halloween, then you’ll want to head to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando. We’re here on the first night of the event to show you EVERYTHING you can expect!

Getting In

We parked, walked through CityWalk, and headed to the park…but it was absolutely pouring! We’re ready to brave the weather, though, because it’s the first night!

We noticed signs outside noting that the park closes to regular guests at 5PM to gear up for Halloween Horror Nights to begin at 6:30PM. Keep this in mind even if you aren’t planning to go to HHN!

The park closes early on days with HHN

You’ll need to have a Halloween Horror Nights ticket for this event, which is separate from a normal Universal park ticket.

We’ve got our ticket!

These nights can sell out, so be sure to get your ticket in advance!

Crowds

On our way to the parks, we walked through CityWalk where many people were leaving. Not only does Universal Studios close early, but as we said, it was pouring when we entered!

Crowds

Crowds simmered down as we made our way toward the park entrance.

Crowds

At 15 minutes before the event started, this is what the crowds looked like. Everyone was anxious to get into the park!

Due to weather, it was not clear if the opening scaremonies would happen, but the fog machines were on full force.

Atmosphere

Although we were hoping to see the opening scaremonies, the weather did not allow that. Nevertheless, we’re excited to get past the gates and the announcements put us in the spooky mood!

The Tribute Store is always a highlight of visiting Universal, and this year’s Halloween Horror Nights store is themed like a comic book shop!

Take a look inside the store — Universal goes all out when it comes to the theming here.

There is a LOT of Horror Nights merchandise to shop including this t-shirt.

While walking around, we bumped into M3GAN!

Haunted Houses

There are TEN Haunted Houses you can experience at this year’s event! Check out a list of them all below:

We stopped by the Stranger Things house entrance to find a 50-minute wait…

…while the Exorcist house only had a 15-minute wait near the beginning of the party.

Emma and Quincy dressed up at Chucky and Tiffany for the night…

…and as you can tell, Emma is having a GREAT time.

Scare Zones

Throughout the park, you’ll find Scare Zones that are different from the Haunted Houses. In these areas of the park, you’ll find terrifying monsters wandering ready to scare the living daylights out of you.

Take a look at the Vamp ‘69: Summer of Blood scare zone!

It gives an entirely different feel at night!

Next up, we checked out the Shipyard 32: Horrors Unhinged scare zone.

Although it is not an official scare zone, Diagon Alley is now home to Death Eaters for the first time! This is a huge draw for fans of the Harry Potter movies.

Food

Universal has tons of different drink options, but you can upgrade them to come in a blinky cup like so!

At a previous media event, we got a sneak peek of the food and at the most recent event we got a look at these! You can snag the Mini Pumpkin Dulce de Leche Puff…

Pumpkin? Yum!

…Surfer Boy Vegan French Bread…

…the Cheddar Jalapeno Hellfire Club…

…an African Lentil and Potato Sambusa Coffin…

Entertainment

Nightmare Fuel: Revenge Dream is the big stage show for Halloween Horror Nights.

The performers are spectacular and it’s a great excuse to rest your feet for a little while.

What a show!

If you’re lucky, you’ll run into the M3GANs doing their dance!

As a reminder, this event is pretty intense! It’s recommended for those 13 and above, and if you’re someone who really isn’t into being frightened, this may be an event you want to avoid since there’s really no way around the scare zones in the park.

However, if you’re putting on your brave face and going, we suggest maybe going later in the season after watching our YouTube video (which is coming to the channel soon!) so you know where the scares are.
