6 Updates That Could CHANGE Your Disney World Trip Next Month

No matter when you’re heading to Disney World, it’s always a good idea to stay updated on the latest happenings.

EPCOT

This is why every month, we look ahead and fill you in on all the changes happening in the parks and more! Right now, it’s time to take a look at the May calendar and share ALL the major changes happening in Disney World next month. Let’s do it!

Disney Vacation Planner

There’s a lot going on this April at Disney World. If you’re planning a trip to the parks, you’ll want to keep these big things on your radar.

V.I.Passholder Days

So what exactly is V.I.Passholder Days? It’s a special limited-time event that brings even MORE discounts to Passholders, along with a new Passholder Magnet, a special NEW lounge in Disney World, Passholder-exclusive snacks, special photo ops, and more!

Annual Pass

This year’s V.I.Passholder Days will run from May 1st through June 26th, so mark those days in your calendar if you’ve got an Annual Pass!

Cheer and Dance Competitions

From May 2nd to May 5th, there may be some more crowds in the park thanks to some cheer and dance competitions taking place over at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Disney World!

Varsity Spirit

Ultimately, this won’t really mean any changes for your upcoming trip aside from the fact that you may need to pack some extra patience when dealing with potentially higher wait times and crowded parks.

May the Fourth

Get ready to celebrate Star Wars Day on May 4th (as in “May the FOURTH Be With You!) This unofficial holiday has been around for a while, and we’ve seen Disney come out with special merch, eats, and more. Although it’s an unofficial holiday, that doesn’t stop folks from spending their day in Hollywood Studios.

Galaxy’s Edge

And, as of now, park pass reservations are completely sold out for Annual Passholders in Hollywood Studios on May 4th. All other parks are still available for passholders, and it looks like the rest of the calendar is green. We’ll let you know if that changes!

Happily Ever After Showtimes Change

Starting May 12th, Happily Ever After will now show at 9:20PM! Currently, the show starts at 8:45PM, but as the sun begins to set later, Disney will change the start time to ensure guests have the best view of the show after the sun has set.

Happily Ever After

This means if you want to grab a really great spot in the hub or back on Main Street U.S.A. (so you can see those projections!), you’ll want to start sitting/standing around between 8:45PM and 9:15PM

New Disney Drone Show

A NEW drone show is coming to Disney Springs! “Disney Dreams That Soar” is a summertime experience that will be “a late-night perk for visitors.” he show will feature Disney stories that celebrate the joy of flight with state-of-the-art drones choreographed to dance in the night sky!

“Disney Dreams That Soar” will run each night from May 24th to September 2nd in Disney Springs! We don’t know about you, but we think this sounds like the perfect end to a day spent shopping and dining in Disney Springs!

Memorial Day

We know Memorial Day isn’t only happening in Disney World of course, but it can seriously impact your trip if you’re not expecting it! This year, Memorial Day is happening on May 27th and we expect the entire weekend to be pretty crowded based on what we’ve seen in the past.

Crowds in Magic Kingdom

Typically, folks take advantage of the long weekend and head to the parks — meaning higher wait times and more crowded parks! May 27th is also the last day for the EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival!

Crowds

If you’re looking for a travel agent to help with your vacation, we recommend our friends at Mouse Fan Travel. They’re experts in the field with over 20 years of vacation planning experience, and they can help take a bunch of the stress out of the entire booking process for you!

  1. Our first day (of 4) in the parks is Memorial Day should we visit a park other than magic kingdom that day to get reduced crowds?
