8 Ways to Make Your 2024 Disney World Trip Cheaper

Disney World is the most magical place on Earth, but trips there can also be the most expensive!

You’ll find it’s scary how easily you can spend THOUSANDS on your trip. But don’t let that turn you away because there are some key decisions and special deals to take advantage of to save some serious cash. So what are some ways to bring those vacation costs down? Let’s go over them!

Here are 8 ways to make your 2024 trip to Disney World cheaper!

Book Your Trip Well In Advance (and use a Travel Agent)

First things first, to save the most money, you will need to book your trip as far as possible in advance. This will give you the most time to do your research on when the busiest times of the year are and any discounts that you can take advantage of.

Visit Disney World during Off-Peak times

Next, in order to make your 2024 trip as cost-friendly as possible, DO NOT visit during major holidays or other big events. Instead, you’ll want to start by looking at the dates on which ticket prices are their LOWEST. These typically fall during Disney’s “slower” periods, when fewer crowds are expected.

We’ve seen that the cheapest days are NOT in the first half of the year. Instead, we’ve seen the cheapest ticket prices in August and September.  Even more importantly, some of these dates have lower ticket prices than those we’re seeing for 2023.

Here’s how the cheapest August 2024 tickets break down.

• August 20th — $109 ($134 in 2023)
• August 21st —$109  ($134 in 2023)
• August 22nd — $109
• August 23rd — $109
• August 26th — $109 ($134 in 2023)
• August 27th — $109 ($134 in 2023)
• August 28th — $109 ($134 in 2023)
• August 29th — $109

Here’s a breakdown of those September 2024 prices:

• September 3rd — $109 ($144 in 2023)
• September 4th — $109 ($144 in 2023)
• September 5th– $109
• September 10th — $109 ($134 in 2023)
• September 11th — $109 ($129 in 2023)
• September 12th — $109
• September 16th — $109 ($144 in 2023)
• September 17th — $109 ($139 in 2023)
• September 18th — $109
• September 19th — $109
• September 24th — $109 ($139 in 2023)
• September 25th — $109 ($139 in 2023)
• September 26th – $109

We’ve also seen that Genie+ prices are also the lowest during those “slow” times of the year, so keep that in mind too.

Additionally, keep an eye out for other ticket deals that can help you save some cash.

• In the past, US Military Members have had access to a deal that has granted them specially priced theme park tickets.
• Florida Residents can also typically save on Disney tickets (40% on a 4-day ticket and 30% on a 3-day ticket).
• AAA Members may be able to save on Disney World tickets (getting up to $100 off gate prices at times) — check AAA for the latest deals.
• In the past, we’ve seen Disney sometimes offer packages where guests can get two days added to their tickets for FREE with qualifying stays. Keep an eye out for other discounts like these that could help you save on tickets and subscribe to our newsletter for the latest updates.
• Disney+ subscribers have also been offered discounts on hotel stays in the past, so it’s something to keep an eye out for.

Stays at Other Hotels

If you’re looking to save more on your hotel stay specifically, you may want to look at off-property hotels or hotels not owned by Disney.

These can sometimes offer significant savings, but you’ll need to take a look at resort fees, the cost of travel to Disney World (since you won’t have access to Disney World’s free transportation), and other additional costs that come with staying off-property. But if you really want to stay on the property and still want to make sure that you’re really getting a great hotel deal, keep an eye out for Disney World hotel or package discounts!

Bring Your Own Snacks

Listen, eating at Disney can get really pricey really quickly, which is why one of our biggest recommendations is for you to start bringing your own snacks to the parks!

Goldfish, pretzels, granola bars, cookies, crackers, and fruit are all great options.

You can have a Pirates Adventure, become a Wilderness Explorer, taste sodas from around the World, take animation classes, have a campfire sing-along, and so much more!

Also, don’t forget that it’s completely free to go to Disney Springs and parking is free too!

Try Not to Splurge on the Merch

A Disney merchandise shopping spree could totally blow your budget, but there are some discounts that could help you buy souvenirs and save money, too.

Here’s a look at the merchandise discounts you need to know about:

• Annual Passholders: Save on most merchandise purchases at Disney World-owned and operated locations and some other spots (sometimes these discounts get INCREASED for limited periods of time so watch out for that!)
• Disney Visa Cardholders: Save 10% off on certain merchandise purchases
• Disney Vacation Club members: Save on select merchandise purchases (generally around 10-20%)
• D23 Gold Members can save at certain Disney Springs stores

You could also consider visiting a Disney outlet in Orlando ahead of your trip so you can pick up souvenirs at a discount.

You could also pick up some cheaper items ahead of your trip and save them to give to the family throughout your vacation. You’ll especially want to look for limited-time discounts that pop up on shopDisney or deals on Amazon to get the best savings.

Bring Your Own Essentials

Florida weather is just so unpredictable that it’s best to come prepared for anything! Toss an umbrella, a lightweight poncho, sunscreen, and maybe an extra pair of socks into your bag, so that a sudden downpour won’t catch you off guard. Because let’s face it, nothing beats that feeling you get when you know you’ve already planned for the unexpected.

Also, when you come prepared, you won’t have to pay the markup that Disney charges for the brands they carry on the property.
