Cringey Things Disney Adults Do on Rides

How do you know you’re talking to a Disney Adult? Don’t worry, they’ll tell you.

Spaceship Earth

Disney Adults are a passionate bunch — waiting hours to ride an attraction, standing in line to get the latest merch, and sometimes being extremely cringey. There are plenty of things Disney Adults do that might catch the ire of other parkgoers — especially on rides.

Reciting the Lines of Popular Attractions

Listen, we know you have a favorite ride — most Disney Adults do (Hi, it’s us — we’re Disney Adults). But there’s no need to show off that you’ve been on Tower of Terror no less than 70 times by saying all the preshow lines out loud.

Tower of Terror

Not only is it disruptive, but it may be some people’s first time on a particular ride, and they probably want to hear how it was originally intended instead of your remix. Some rides have complicated storylines to follow, and it could be difficult for folks to follow if you’re talking over the audio.

Taking Flash Photos on Dark Rides

Dark rides are called that because of their intensely emotional content — just kidding, they’re obviously called that because they are dark. And guess what? They’re dark for a reason. So let’s keep it that way! Disney Adults can get really into their experiences and want to share them with their entire social media following.

Pirates of the Caribbean

But, what makes us absolutely cringe is when people film or take photos using flash on dark rides — heck, on any ride. Using flash can potentially ruin the effects and spoil the ride illusion for others. This is also an official rule at many Disney World dark rides, and you might hear from Cast Members if you’re not careful.

Standing or Getting Out of Ride Vehicles

Disney World ride vehicles are designed with extremely specific measurements and directions for use — and most of those directions specify that riders are to remain seated at all times. Some Disney World rides don’t require safety belts or harnesses because they’re slower, and we’ve seen people try to act like parkour champs and stand up during a ride.

This is obviously a no-no — there’s a reason Cast Members tell you to stay seated, and most of the time it’s due to safety. Ride vehicles can stop at any moment for whatever reason, and if someone is standing up they could easily fall over and get seriously injured. Sounds like a terrible way to spend your Disney vacation!

Not Keeping Arms and Legs Inside the Vehicle at All Times

We know that Disney World isn’t exactly known for being in a cold climate region, and that means Disney Adults start to feel the heat pretty quickly. No matter how tempting that boat ride water looks, please, do not attempt to put your hands or feet in it.

Living With The Land

This is a huge safety hazard! Most Disney World boat rides operate on track systems still, and that means there may be a ton of mechanics or other structures under the surface that you can’t see. There are much better ways to cool down when you’re in the parks!

Complaining About the Wait

Being a Disney Adult means you know you’re likely going to wait a long time for the most popular rides — and still complaining about it anyway. We are definitely guilty of this one. Even though we know we may have to stand in line longer than we’d like to, we’ve found ourselves complaining without realizing it.

We’re not here to yuck anyone else’s yum, but if you’re being disruptive to other people around you or doing any of these other things when you’re in Disney World, well, you might be engaging in some seriously cringey Disney Adult behavior.

  1. Husband nearly had to restrain me in April while waiting to board Rise of the Resistance, there was an adult literally reciting the ENTIRE ride story! It was our 1st day in the magic after a good few years and a day of travelling (8 hour flight), I was somewhat excited to be getting on Rise as a huge Star Wars fan and what I didn’t need was a jerk telling the whole queue the story etc.
Luckily my English manners prevailed and I kept quiet and instead fixed them with a hard stare – like Paddington Bear.
Yes talk about the ride with your party BUT quietly so the whole darn queue doesn’t hear. Grrrrrr!
