Disney World is filled with innovation and immersive theming.
There are lots of rides, restaurants, and even hotels at Disney World that are just so cool that we keep going back again and again. On the other hand, there are many rides and restaurants that seem super cool IN THEORY that are just a total waste of time.
Here are four things that we made the mistake of spending precious time (and even money) on because of how cool they seemed. Don’t follow in our footsteps! Be better than us!
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana
Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana is EPCOT’s newest attraction — a walkthrough experience that educates on the planet’s water cycle. All this is done in a really neat, Moana-themed, interactive way. Like, there’s a splash pad, an area where you can stick your hands through running water, and more.
It really IS super cool. Except… it’s just not worth the time unless you have kiddos. Well, let us rephrase that. It’s a one and done experience if you have kiddos. There’s never really a wait, but it’s super crowded, toddlers are everywhere, and you can’t even carry in that margarita you just bought!

Oga’s Cantina
Oga’s Cantina is a super immersive bar experience in Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. You’ll need a reservation, but can sometimes grab one by walking up to the host stand. Inside, you’ll be met with creatures from galaxies far, far away as they travel throughout the area. It’s so cool. So neat. The drinks are absolutely delicious. HOWEVER. There are a few things that give us the ick about this place.
Firstly, it’s almost always super packed. It’s hard to hear and see everything without feeling overwhelmed. What’s more is that all of the seating areas are communal. There are round booths surrounding the lounge that you could be sharing with another family. Yes, I have sat elbow-to-elbow with a 7-year-old whom I did not know as I enjoyed a bevi.
Plus, you must be in and out within 45 minutes. It feels very rushed. This combined with the communal space makes us not want to go as much.

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn
Next up, we have Pecos Bill. This is a quick service eatery in Frontierland in Magic Kingdom. The dining area is HUGE and it’s themed perfectly to the area. Plus, the menu boasts all sorts of great-looking Tex-Mex.
Except… when you get the food, it’s incredibly lackluster. It’s pretty bland, and it’s definitely not one of our favorite restaurants ever. It used to be a lot cooler, as they had a toppings bar where you could doctor up your food with extra cheese and sauces. Since COVID-related closures, though, the toppings bar has been gone.

Anything at all that spins.
There are several Disney World rides that follow the same sort of concept. Dumbo the Flying Elephant, the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, TriceraTop Spin, AstroOrbiter, Mad Tea Party, and Alien Swirling Saucers. These are all rides that spin, with the former four rides being things that spin in the air.
These are basically the same rides with different theming. If you have kids, they can be awesome. If not, there’s really no point in riding all of them.

As usual, please take all of this with a grain of salt. Everyone has different tastes and preferences, and that’s totally fine! We’ll be sure to keep you in the loop with all of our hot takes, news, and updates. Make sure to follow along so that you’re always in the loop and never miss a thing.
These are the restaurants we DO recommend for 2024

I went on Swirling Saucers once just after the ride opened. I will never need to do so again. I actually found the ride to be BORING!
