Opening TIMELINE Revealed For Disney’s New Residential Community

Did you know that Disney owns actual NEIGHBORHOODS? It’s true!

Currently. there are a few Disney communities that do exist, and with that comes all the bells and whistles you might expect from a Disney vacation (including a HIGH cost). And, more are coming soon! Disney recently announced that they would be designing new residential communities with the first being located in Rancho Mirage, California and we’ve got a FIRST LOOK at what the houses could look like PLUS an opening timeline!

The new community will be known as Cotino, and it is the first step in Disney’s big Storyliving by Disney plans that involve introducing “vibrant new neighborhoods that are infused with our special brand of magic.”

Disney is still in the beginning phases of the development, but they recently shared a look at the “design inspiration” being used for the “types of homes and designs that builders will offer” in the community. Let’s take a look!

All of the homes will be designed to represent the “rich history, culture and boundless beauty of California’s Coachella Valley” and you can see that in the concept art!

Disney has stated that each home will feature all the “attention to details, unique amenities and special touches” that guests have come to expect from Disney. Here’s another potential home design that they revealed.

While these are only “inspirations” for designs and floor plans, it appears that the homes will likely feature privacy walls around the front.

And, as far as floor plans, it appears that both 1-story and 2-story homes will be in the community.

These designs were created by DMB Development, WHA (an architectural design firm), and Walt Disney Imagineering. They will now be sent along with the Preliminary Development Plan to the City of Rancho Mirage for review of the design inspiration and proposed floor plans.

Along with the concept homes, Disney also revealed a TIMELINE for the new residential community! They shared that Cotino is scheduled to welcome residents in 2024 with sales beginning in early 2023.

Disney does have future plans for one section to be available only for 55+ residents, though the overall community will welcome homeowners of any age.

Disney broke ground on the project back in April and has reportedly begun grading the land, which is expected to take anywhere from six to nine months.

Disney also released a video showing the inspiration for the community.
