5 Things You Should Do FIRST at Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in Disney World

It’s almost SCARY how much there is to see and do during Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party in Magic Kingdom. There’s an exclusive parade, fireworks, tons of rare characters, food, trick-or-treat stops, and even some spooky ride additions. With so much to check out and only a few hours to get it all done, you’re going to have to make some strategic decisions. That’s where we come in.

Evil Queen in the Boo To You Parade

This seasonal event in the Magic Kingdom requires a special ticket, and capacity is limited. That means smaller crowds in the park, but also means you have to pay extra if you want to attend. Those tickets aren’t cheap, so we’re going to help you get the most bang for your buck! Here are the eight things you should do FIRST when you get to the Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party.

Now, Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party doesn’t start until around 7PM, but you can enter Magic Kingdom with a Halloween Party ticket as early as 4PM. We highly recommend getting a head start and getting to Magic Kingdom as early as possible. Once you get there, here’s what we recommend doing FIRST.

If you arrive at 4PM:

Eat Dinner

Of course, we recommend trying some of those special Halloween Party-exclusive treats, but before the event begins, we suggest a proper dinner. Stop by Casey’s Corner, Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Cafe, or Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe around 4PM so that you’re all fueled up for the party.

Casey’s Corner

In our opinion, you don’t want to waste precious party time at a long meal, so get that knocked out ahead of time! Oh, and make sure to save room for those exclusive Halloween treats (and some CANDY).

Ride Magic Kingdom Attractions

This is another one of those things many people might not want to do when the party starts, so we suggest hopping in line for things like Big Thunder Mountain or the Jungle Cruise before the event begins. After all, you can ride those attractions whenever you want during the day, while some party offerings are only available for a SUPER limited time!

That said, you don’t want to commit to a super long line right before the party! Otherwise, you’ll miss out on the start of the event. Look for a wait time under 30 minutes to be safe.

Make a game plan

As soon as that Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party event guide is in your hands, huddle up with your group and decide what’s a priority. Do you have a big Stitch fan in the group? Maybe a snack lover who wants to try a TON of treats? The sooner you figure out all your priorities, the better. Otherwise, you may get stuck wandering around during the party and wasting time!

From there, rank your must-dos in order of priority. Some character experiences, like the Nightmare Before Christmas Jack and Sally meet-and-greet, get SUPER long lines. If watching the parade is a top priority, make sure to plan your evening so you’re in a good spot when it begins.

Additionally, make sure to keep your eyes out for a Cast Member dressed in that Halloween Party costume — they’ll be able to help you get a special event wristband.

Once the party starts:

Now, we have ANOTHER set of things to do FIRST when the party starts at 7PM.

Jump in line

Step one: get in line for your highest priority activity of the night. Maybe that means visiting a snack kiosk for an exclusive popcorn bucket souvenir, or maybe that means getting in line to meet Elvis Stitch in Tomorrowland. Either way, don’t save your must-dos for later!

Why? Well, for one thing, souvenirs and merchandise can sell out before the party is over. Even character meet-and-greets may end earlier than you expected!

Sometimes, Cast Members must close a meet-and-greet early due to bad weather or a long line. The sooner you can check these priorities off the list, the better!

Scope out a parade spot

One of the big perks of attending a special event in Magic Kingdom is that Disney World limits the capacity, so the crowds are typically pretty low. That also means the lines for rides, specifically, are pretty short. But the crowds for fireworks and parades? Well, that’s another story.

Boo to You Parade

All the prime viewing locations for the Boo To You Halloween Parade and Disney’s Not So Spooky Spectacular fireworks tend to get taken early, so make sure you know where you want to be when the shows begin! Otherwise, you may end up stuck behind a crowd or standing at a weird angle.

We can’t wait for the first party!
