Will Funai Classic Produce Another Chapter of High Drama? LAKE BUENA VISTA, Fla. -- When Lucas Glover returns to the Funai Classic Oct. 19-22 to defend the title he won in 2006, it begs the question: What could he possibly do to top the drama that propelled him to his first PGA TOUR victory a year ago? Glover, who will be among a field of 144 top pros vying for shares of a Classic-record $4.6 million purse, holed out from a greenside bunker for a birdie on Magnolia course No. 18 to earn a one-stroke victory last year ... after he drained a 40-foot birdie putt from the fringe on No. 17 to climb into a tie for the lead with three other golfers. It marked the 18th time in the last 24 years that victory was either by one stroke or a playoff -- and the sixth time that the winner needed a birdie on No. 18 either to win outright or force a playoff. The Funai Classic is played on Disney's Palm and Magnolia courses the first two rounds, with pros accompanied by amateurs in a pro-am format. Following a cut to the low 70 scores and ties, pros only play the final two rounds on the long 7,516-yard Magnolia course. Tickets for the championship rounds (Thursday-Sunday) are $30 per day. Tickets for practice rounds (Monday-Wednesday) are $10 per day. A weekly badge providing admission to practice days and the championship rounds is $50. Advance tickets are available by calling the Greater Orlando Chamber of Commerce at 407/835-2525 or by visiting orlando.org on the Internet.
